Awarding 7 $2,000 Scholarships for Excellence and a $1,000 Operation Round-Up Technical Scholarship

CECA supports youth education through our Scholarships for Excellence and Operation Round Up Technical Scholarship. We offer seven $2,000 Scholarships For Excellence and an additional $1,000 to learn a trade from a trade school.

To qualify, students must be dependents of active CECA members living full-time on the lines, maintain a 2.5 GPA, and meet entrance requirements at an accredited school.

Eligibility

In order to be considered for either scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:

  • The applicant can be a graduating senior or a student currently enrolled in a qualifying college or university. Once enrolled at their college or university students must take a full-time set of classes.
  • Reside in a home powered by CECA, at your primary residence
  • Submit a complete online application by Monday, April 1st, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. No late applications will be accepted. 

 

Guidelines

  • Complete the online application by Monday, April 1st, 2024 at 4:30 p.m.
  • Write a 300 - 500 word essay on the following prompt:
    • Give a brief explanation of why you chose your field of study and why the scholarship should be awarded to you.
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Current, official high school or college transcript
  • High-resolution headshot (to be used to announce winners)

Important Note: After being awarded the scholarship, please email your college transcript to tmcgehee@ceca.coop after every semester.

  • Academics
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Community involvement
  • College and career focus
  • Overall commitment 

Application and Essay Tips

  • Give the authors of your letters of recommendation at least two weeks’ notice before submitting your application 

  • Use a solid-colored background for your headshot  

  • Be sure to use proper grammar and run a spelling and grammar check before pasting your essay into the submission box 

  • Have at least 2 – 3 others look at your essay (parents, teachers, etc.) 

  • Ensure your essay is relevant to the prompt 

  • Make sure your essay answers everything the prompt asks for
